After Treatment Advice

Having been sugared, your skin may be red and itchy.  This is quite normal and usually subsides with 24 hours.  Try not to scratch and avoid the temptation to rub your hands over the treated area as touching the open hair follicles could result in infection.  If the itching is very uncomfortable apply a clean cold compress to sooth the area.

Avoid over heating your skin for 24 hours (ie. no sunbeds/sunbathing/sauna/steam room).

Do not be tempted to shave or use depilatory creams between sugaring treatments.

Ingrowing hairs can be a problem, especially on the bikini line.  Some hairs will grow along under the skin and can be clearly seen.  Try to release these by using an ex-foliating mitt (available to purchase) and the use of a moisturiser to soften the skin.  Sometimes the hair will grow back down the follicle and cause a red, painful lump.  The best way to treat this is by applying 'magnesium sulphate paste' (available over the pharmacy counter) and covering it with a plaster, which will help to draw the hair out.  Do not be tempted to 'squeeze' it as this can cause unsightly scarring and the risk of further infection.  If in any doubt contact me for advice.

For client's safety it is not advisible to remove hair from a mole.  If you are concerned contact your GP.

Use an ex-foliating mitt from 4 days after your sugaring treatment until 4 days before your next treatment.  This helps to avoid ingrowing hairs and keeps your skin looking shiny and healthy.

If you've had your underarms sugared, avoid using a deodorant for at least 24 hours after the treatment.  A 'roll on' is kinder to your skin than a spray.

Small whiteheads on the top lip can be a side effect of the treatment up to three days afterwards and are due to the sebaceous glands reacting and producing an abnormal amount of sebum.  If left alone they will usually subside on their own.  After further treatments whiteheads seldom appear.

If in any doubt about a reaction to the treatment you have received, please don't hesitate to contact me for advice.
